     Once again, Gallery U manages to pull off a magnificent show.  "Cammanata" (Italian for walk) was the highlight of the Montclair Gallery Walk 2010.  With hundreds of patrons in attendance throughout the night, Gallery Director, Robert Greco provided an important and eclectic display of fantastic emerging artwork.  Cammanata, with classic disco pumping in the background, was a collection of artwork in motion. The highlighted piece "Inside of Emptiness" by first time gallery participant Nick Domanski set the stage for this multifarious collection. 

      UI Collective pieces, created by the clients of Universal Institute Rehab included a wonderful wall sculpture from recycled paper and featured cascading purple string, it was done with such careful balance and grace it really demonstrated the artistic talents of people with traumatic brain injuries.  

     Other notable pieces were Michael Alago's bold photograph of the back of a skinhead and Lynne Toye's dreaming landscapes.  I loved the two little cityscape pieces by Inbred Hybrid Collective and the large black and white abstract photographs by Robert Langdon.  

     The most impressive pieces were the spray paint art of Joe Iurato who created portraits of musicians/artist Janis Joplin and Tom Waites.  In his usual stencil style and created on wood, the flawless likeness surrounded the room and brought the other portrait pieces to life.  In attendance were several members of the NJ State Council of the Arts, local real estate mogul Dick Grabowski, New York Gallerist,  Marisol Klien, Contemporary Art Collector, Denise Clemens-Thouran and of course a selection of New Jersey's most interesting and illustrious.

Cammanata is a must see show, be sure to catch it before it 'walks' away.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – (OCTOBER, 2010) – The Montclair Arts Council invites you to attend its bi-annual Gallery Walk, ‘A Little Night Art VIII’ on October 22, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. MAC invites you to join a tour of 7 participating galleries, 3 retailers exhibiting art, 6 restaurants offering Prix Fixe menus, 2 private museum tours and a gourmet chocolate tasting.

This extraordinary Gallery Walk will feature special works of art at Gallery U: Featuring "Camminata" or "to walk" a group exhibit with works by, Nick Domanski, Lynne Toye, Donna Marie Costanza, Inbred Hybred Collective, Robert Greco, Joe Iurato, Stan Sudol, 
UI Collective, Michael Alago, Jhina Alveredo and host of other amazing artists from all over the world! reception with the artists from 6-9 pm.  food, music and an amazing collection of artwork.

Also - BrassWorks on Grove, Essex Fine Arts Gallery, Gallery 51,   Jacklyn Kling Gallery, Montclair Public Library and Studio Montclair. 

In addition to our wonderful commercial and nonprofit gallery partners, ‘A Little Night Art VIII’, is including 3 local retailers from Bloomfield Avenue: Edge Mid-Century Designs, Nye and Company and Semplice who will be also are exhibiting works of art.  Every venue will also offer something unique within their space – music, a visiting artist, or refreshments.

Free parking is available at the Montclair Art Museum at 3 Mountain Avenue, Senior Care at 110 Greenwood Avenue near Walnut Street and the Montclair Public Library on South Fullerton Avenue. The Art Shuttle buses will operate from 6pm to 9pm. They will leave from the Montclair Art Museum and Senior Care beginning at 6:00pm. The Montclair Patch is sponsoring the Art Bus as it makes continuous stops at all participating galleries.

Six Montclair restaurants including Richie Cecere’s Supper Club, Corso 98, Passionne, Palazzo, Bistro 18 and Market, will offer special prix fixe menus for patrons of the Gallery Walk. Each restaurant will offer three courses for participants: appetizer, main course and dessert. Reservations are required
